The Windsor Boys’ School Boat Club has been active since 1940 when rowing first started at the school. This initiative came from Eton Excelsior Rowing Club, one of the oldest established (1826) rowing clubs on the Thames, to encourage the pupils of the Windsor County Boys School to use the equipment left idle by wartime absentees.

The club’s main growth came in the 1980s with an increased nationwide emphasis on sculling, particularly for younger athletes, and the introduction of coxed quad sculling for J14s and 15s. Having embraced the sculling discipline wholeheartedly, the club has experienced unprecedented success to the present day.
